Day 187: In the shadows...

Day 187: ...a self portrait, of sorts

Sometimes, in my role as political scientist, I have to go off and do some analysis of events, what we call in the trade 'participant observation'. It means I'm there with two hats on: one to observe the event for purposes of research; the other as, well, me. Sometimes, one needs to do more than simply cast one's vote every three years and I have been a participant in the political process one way or another for many many years now. There's a follow-up Day 187.5 post coming up and a little further exploration over at psephy's ~ologies shortly too.

We live in interesting times, both here in Australia and in Japan, as increasing numbers of people, many of whom haven't done so, head for the streets to demonstrate dissatisfaction at Government decisions.

Once we'd finished, I headed over to our favourite South Bank again to catch the bus. Such a beautiful blue sky day, again, there was so much one could have taken.

The patterns in the grass caught my eye. The last week or so has seen a children's school holiday event at South Bank and the structures have just been removed. Fascinating what remains. There is of course the wheel...too irresistible on a blue sky day, just sitting above the trees...

A mere shadow of oneselfie...

Just wheelin' in the bluesky...

If a 'selfie' is but a shadow of oneself, is it in fact, a 'selfie'?
