Day 192 2015: Seagulls do dive...

Day 192: ...birds of another feather

Today was supposed to be very cold. I knew a number of people who planned out the night before to have books and things at the bedside ready to sleep in. But no. It didn't really eventuate. I played along until about 6.30am. But that was about it. Just a regular winter morning, 11 or 12 degrees. Meh.

With a play on later in the afternoon, I prepared to head in a little bit early to see the French Festival along the Cultural Forecourt, close to where I was going. Turned out there was quite a long line, probably not worth my while to line up, wait, get in and then rush through to meet the play on the other side.

So I strolled along South Bank instead. As you do.

And yes, rumours of muppets on motorbikes are true. But there are no pics.

Instead, I was quite taken by the poolside acrobatics of my other favourite bird, the seagull. It is not just your chips they seek, but what a display of diving and fetching and...well, take a look.

Attention please, let the show begin

Startled gull?

I spy...something

It's here...

Da posse...

Who you messin' with...?

'I see it!'
'Don't...'

'I'm a gonna get it...'
'Don't, really, do not'

'~~~~'
'Sigh'

'Ah-ha'
'Uh-oh'

'Ta-daaaa'
'Show-off'

'Splatter...'
'~ ~ ~ ~ ~'

'[cough], bleh'
'Told ya'

And the play? Another excellent presentation by the Queensland Theatre Company, 'Country Song', the story of Jimmy Little. Fabulous. It had us standing on our feet too, not quite on the water, but it is not something you often see in Brisbane theatres either.
