Day 253 2015: Afternoon walk to the lake...

Day 253: ...take 2.

Work-life according to a timetable...for 26 weeks a year, every hour of every day is timed precisely. You know where you will be, what you will be doing. That's not to say the other 26 weeks of the year (or remaining 22 weeks if one takes into account those weeks laughingly referred to as 'holidays' aka research/ writing weeks) are 'free'. There is always something to be done, just not quite so timetabled.

Anyway, that's just a bit of a gripey way to say I found myself back by the lake this afternoon, in between some classes and seeking out some light to photograph before the sun set on the day. There is a bit of a 'walk, teach, walk, take pic, walk, teach; rinse, repeat' about it.

Still, dear reader, the lake is different everyday. And so it was today. First to catch my eye was the skitty, darty, flitty red-backed fairy wren. Such a stunning bird and I think this means I am officially a 'twitcher', something of a fascination with these little ones.

Checking the light

Bare branches

I probably spent a bit too much time chasing it through the scrub. Soon enough it was time to walk back, but not before admiring the colours of the fading light, and another little scrub-dwelling bird...I'm yet to confirm its identity.

The shy one

For tomorrow is another day

There's another day tomorrow, more timetabled life. But it is the end of week 7, over the hump and on the way home. Until next year, when it starts all over again.
