Day 286 2016: I'd like another day like today...

Day 286: ...just take a different road sometimes

The other day I wrote about how most of my life seems to have been determined by timetables. They set you in a certain mode and sometimes it can take a little while to recalibrate when the time restrictions are lifted.

That's what this week is like, sort of, although since it is only one week without teaching, I am trying to keep it 'normal' by going into work each day. Even getting up at the usual hour...

Lovely way to start the day

But without the concerns of making it to campus on time for a 9.00am class, there is a little leeway. And today, I thought, rather than get off at my usual station, as I have been doing for the past six months, ritually, why not go the extra station and walk back towards the uni from the other direction. I've walked that way in the evening (past the wheel) by why not do it in the light of day? No reason not to. As it turns out, the uni is about halfway between the two stations so, why not.

So I did.

Emerging from the station

Approaching from the 'other' direction

The water feature by day

Flowery wheely

It's a bird!

The flower beds, for autumn, are quite astounding

...with all sorts of varieties

...colours...

...and winged creatures...

...in all varieties...

...and colours...

...and workers

Wheely good stroll

Red, red, red

Is it a bird? A bee? A...mothy thing?

Actual colours while not looking really real

Steer clear of this one

Up and away

Into the clouds

The road to work is paved, at least

Meanwhile, a touch of home...

Looking beaky

And it was a lovely way to start the day. And end it, as it happens with a hint of the full moon to come.

From the office

It was just a small diversion but one worth taking more often (perhaps with the macro lens in hand next time).
