Day 290: ...to find another port
A port by any other name...is a port? Perhaps. It has just occurred to me though that the two subway lines I can catch from my station both end at 'ports', one at work, Shin Kiba; the other one I took today to Yokohama, or more accurately, Yamashita Park, a large portside park in Yokohama.

As it happened, today there was an Indian Festival--music, dance, food, markets--which made it even more crowded but more lively than your typical Sunday walk in the park.
There is the passenger liner, Hikawa Maru, built in 1930 with a history that includes taking passengers to and from Seattle and work during World War 2. It is now a permanently moored museum. The gardens were blooming too, perfect opportunity to practice with that new macro. Verdict: I need more practice.

Yokohama was, historically, the main port near Tokyo and foreign influence was quite strong in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The history is there is the streets, in the buildings and a huge Chinatown. I'll hold that over for another day, another ride to the end of the line.
A perfectly fine day for a stroll in the park, by the port...just like just about every other day really...
