Day 313 2016: A moment in history...

Day 313: ...a night of anticipation ahead

While it is 8 November in our part of the world, in the one place it matters most today, it was still 7 November. The United States. The US, where there is an election of much significance to due to happen within the next 24 hours, the result of which, due within the next 24 hours, will tell us much about the world we will live in for at least the next four years (coincidentally the time I have left in Japan on this assignment).

It has been quite an awful election in many respects, a campaign that has, at times, had me questioning the point of my profession: political science, more specifically, psephology, those of us who follow elections closely, very closely. Perhaps a little too close at times.

I probably won't sleep this evening.

And that's actually a little unhealthy because I have another early start tomorrow, just like this morning whereupon I caught some very interesting light...

Sunlight, sun haze

No filter, natural sepia

Puff of...steam, we think

Haze overtakes the afternoon

Like actors across a stage

...which continued on through the day in its own way.

It is likely we will learn of the result during tomorrow's class which is always interesting to have that kind of 'breaking news' as we teach about politics. It is the Peace Studies class as it happens...it will be a most interesting moment in history. An historic moment for us all.
