Day 11, 11 Jan 2017: Blue skies...

Day 11: ...all day long...

But not enough to distract from the work at hand.

I am presently writing, correction, trying to write a short essay for our Faculty journal, due this week. Actually yesterday. Prior to Christmas, in the call for papers, I 'volunteered' to do a piece on East Asian security (my speciality, one of) under a Trump presidency (not my speciality, ever).

Seemed easy enough at the time; there was a fair bit of material during the campaign to work with, plenty post-election too...but now it is his tweets, and others tweets and the whole political meltdown that is just smothering an otherwise serious subject: regional security.

Of course, the day didn't start out with such head-banging despair. It was a marvellous blue-sky day, full of possibility and the likelihood of the article being completed...(until I noticed something along the lines of 'golden showers' trending by morning tea time)...

But blue skies!

Blue sky and roof

And the tower

Bamboo in the sun

Cloud patterns

Breakthrough

I do have a covering extension to modify the essay depending on the inauguration speech next week, assuming something will be said about Asia...but then, who knows. That's the luck and frustration of this job. Better chance of more blue skies to look forward to next week.

PS: For those of you playing along at home, the ducks were back again today (see yesterday's post), third day in a row...
