Day 9, 9 Jan 2017: Sitting ducks?

Day 9: ...not likely

I should have been out on the streets today snapping pics of all the twenty year olds dressed in their finest--young women in kimono, young men in suits--for today is Seijin no Hi, or 'Coming of Age' day in Japan and 20 is *the* age. I expect there will be a few sore heads tomorrow in class as they learn the lessons of too much drink = hangover...

But, I have articles to write, papers to consider and classes to prepare so notwithstanding the public holiday, my day involved work, and occasional glances out the window, just in case young adults were passing in their finery.

They didn't in the end. All we had to view was the port in the rain, and the steam in the calm. And ducks. Lots and lots of ducks just floating along...

Power types

Steaming up

Wind goes

Straight up

First signs of the sun for a couple of days

And these 'sitting ducks'...

...they just 'sat' and floated, ebbed and flowed for a few hours

Making tracks in the calm waters

Now that was interesting.
